Supporting the Key Stage 2 Biology and Technology syllabus
Sea Hives has created an immersive programme of activities for students to learn about the marine environment, the animals and plants that live in it, why it is under threat and the actions required to nurture and protect it.
Session 1 – Greening of grey structures
- Introduction to different coastal designs
- Practical exercise to demonstrate fishing methods
Session 2 – Create your own SeaHive
- Introduction to SeaHives
- Practical exercise to assemble sections of SeaHive
Session 3 – Species identification and Word Search
- Introduction to marine life beneath the waves around the UK
- Practical exercise to identify species and complete Word Search
Session 4 – Exploring the strand line on the beach
- Introduction to natural and artificial materials found washed up on the beach
- Practical exercise sorting collected materials for disposal or recycling.
